My recent acquiring of the EKO Core stethoscope has been a great step forward in my clinical critical care practice so far. I am able to share my clients (with there consent) heart valve sounds & adventitious pulmonary sounds with my colleagues and new hires on the cardiac-surgical ICU where I practice. I appreciate the easy use of the mobile app on my iPhone of the sound tracing’s that is a great visual aid. I also appreciate the quality of sound that is still achieved in the analog mode and the ease of going back and forth between the digital and analog setting. I am quite pleased with my purchase and look forward to years of use
It’s been great using Eko this last month. The analogue acoustics are as good as any other high quality stethoscope, but the digital quality is exceptional. It’s a nice to be able to download recordings of auscultations and attach them to patient files to track something like a heart murmur over time. Clients also enjoy being able to hear and see their pets’ heart beats when explaining different conditions. There are just a few gripes I have. Sometimes the Core doesn’t turn on when switched on (turning off and on usually fixes this), exiting out of a recording playback through the stethoscope will sometimes result in an extremely loud noise that only stops when the Core is turned off, and the device often doesn’t connect to the app without manually connecting it. These aren’t severe enough to really be an issue, but it’s definitely something that should be looked into.
I hear things I have never heard before. It works great in a noisy environment like the emergency department.
Works great, just turn it on and it works
I really like the overall stethoscope. The digital portion takes some getting used to, and is better if used under and not over clothing. Overall I like it and am happy.
Graduation present for daughter
a blessing for my 62 year old ears! useful to have regular and amplified modes, particularly when I forgot to switch off the amplifier toggle and the battery died! a fine scope even without the amplification
Works great! Love it!
Great product and alternative to my older stethoscope ! Amplification sounds great
So far, i like it. I have bought just about every electronic stethoscope. I do a lot of teaching so recording what I hear is important. It would be nice if you could hear the recordings better using the IPAD speakers. Also it took me a long time to learn how to use it. I sent you a tutorial which would help others learn how to use the stethoscope and you are welcome to use it. I will know a lot more after I use the stethoscope. Louis E. Grenzer Cardiologist
This stethoscope is amazing. I'm a paramedic and was having a hard time hearing lung sounds so I bought this. This has restored my ability to hear. It is slightly heavy and longer than a typical stethoscope but. I think it is a great trade off.
PROs -great quality -amazing sound -ability to change the volume -its really great having the stethoscope connected to the app and being able to relisten some of the sounds -sleek, clean, elegant CONs -a little bit heavy for 8h/day use but for an electronic stethoscope I think its weight is a very small con
Outstanding product! Amplification is best in class.
Listening to heart & lung sounds is SO much easier! I LOVE this stethoscope!!!
I have hearing loss and the Eko allows me to ascult easily. The unit is heavy and doesn't fit well in a lab coat pocket, but I will work around that for the improved sound.
The EKO is hands down the best amplified stethoscope I have ever used though it does have some room for improvement. I have previously used the Littman 4200 and 3200. The first was a poorly constructed piece of technology that did amplify well enough but fell apart within a year, was poorly repaired under warranty and lasted another year at best. The 3200 looked better, did not seem to have the same structural weaknesses but was otherwise unchanged in terms of accessibility and short tubing - a true face-to-face patient-provider experience. The Eko's length is appropriate, though it does make it a bit head-heavy and tends to slip of your neck unless you tuck it in somewhere. EKO's stethoscope is of superb quality and comparable to mid and end range Littman pieces. The amplification is by far the best I've encountered - however, it only works well when you are in a quiet office. If there is any external noise, talking, machines beeping, forget about it. The amplification unit is just badly insulated for external sound. The bluetooth connection between the unit and your phone is seamless on android and, I assume, would be on iOS, too. I like the app, though would prefer the option of storing the data locally on my device, as well and being able to handle it outside the actual app instead of working through the cloud. Overall, I think that this device is excellent for a primary care office or similar, it works great as a regular stethoscope and is mostly limited in very noisy environments. Personally, I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend it.
I love the quality of the diaphragms as switching between pediatric and adult. I'm going to make a little bag for the bell that I'm not using so i don't lose it and attach it to my scope.
I have been using it for 2 months now. It is easy to use, holds a good charge, and works great as a regular scope when needed. I tried and considered buying the Littman model, but this was a much better choice due to the compatibility with IOS operating system. LOVE IT!!
Best stethoscope imaginable -- the sound quality is insane.
I'm a Sports Medicine physician, Pediatrician by background. I've been making all of my colleagues try out my Eko -- the difference it makes in auscultating heart sounds is absolutely remarkable. I will never go back to my old stethoscope -- hearing with Eko's magnified sound is amazing.
I am very impressed not only with the quality of this stethoscope but also with the service the company provides. On two occasions, there were minor issues and needed replacement part and the company responded very quickly and replaced the parts promptly. I am a big fan and recommend this product to all mu colleagues. Keep up the great work.
Works very well. Increases confidence in ability to assess patient. Earpiece too thin for my preference.
Want to love it. Need more time. Better amplification then my old Littman enhanced scope. Have not really used the phone app and would like to test drive the DUO at some point. Examining patients in LTC settings and at times very noisy. A quick rhythm strip would be helpful.
Eko seems like a breakthrough product. Eko updated the stethoscope to the modern day giving it an elegant look and robust smartphone connectivity and recording options. I have used this in the cardiac floor and sure it turned heads. It performs comparably well to the traditional Littmann devices however the current version has a little excess hand noise conduction than you would like through the body of the device. The phone audio out volume could be boosted as well.
I use the Eko core stethoscope with my Bluetooth hearing aids and they work great.
I like this stethoscope a lot, but not in love with it yet. It may be the learning curve when using on animals is a bit steeper than humans! Especially when an emergency arises. Obviously you cannot always get the patient information typed in if the patient is in crisis - you need to use the tool and be done with it. I had an emergency today: senior dog collapsed during a blood draw. Heart rate was 72bpm (55 with Eko). I don’t know how much I trusted the Eko, however. It took a while to actually register the bpm and the interference with the fur was maddening. I will continue to use it on “well” patients in the hopes of improving my diagnostic skills...but this was very frustrating today.
I’m approaching this from a veterinary point of view. I find this stethoscope in general a very nice tool (is a little bit LONG, but I suppose is understandable!) It is a bit inconvenient in an emergency situation, however. You cannot always get the patient information typed in if it (patient) is crashing, and frequently the bpm doesn’t register. I have a particular case that I would be happy to discuss.
